Gorilla Clamp

1. What is the Gorilla Clamp, and how is it different from a traditional metallic cable protector?
The Gorilla Clamp is APE-X Systems’ reinforced non-metallic cable and control-line protection platform. It is designed to secure and protect critical downhole lines while reducing metal-to-metal contact, corrosion concerns, added weight, coating damage, and sharp-edge development that can occur with traditional metallic protection systems.
Current Gorilla Clamp configurations are designed to support #2 and #4 ESP cable along with 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch capillary or control-line applications. The platform can also accommodate select fiber and flat-pack configurations depending on the application.
The current Gorilla Clamp platform is designed around 2 7/8-inch tubing and can support applications involving ESP cable protection, capillary tubing, control lines, gas lift, rod lift CT, and other tubing-mounted downhole protection requirements. Additional configurations are continuing to be developed.
Yes. The Gorilla Clamp was developed for demanding production environments where CO₂, H₂S, brine, hydrocarbons, and other aggressive conditions may create challenges for metallic components. It is also designed to be millable and drill-through capable when intervention or workover operations require it.

Silver Back Series MLE

5. What is the Silver Back Protector?
The Silver Back is APE-X Systems’ stainless-steel protection platform designed specifically for Motor Lead Extension and critical ESP equipment interfaces. It provides secure, low-profile protection in areas where cable movement, contact, and mechanical damage can create reliability concerns.
Silver Back configurations are designed for critical ESP connection points including bolt-on-head, pump-to-pump, seal-to-seal, and motor-to-seal applications. Each configuration is designed around the geometry and protection requirements of that specific equipment interface.
The Silver Back uses a secure, low-profile retention design that helps control cable positioning and reduce unnecessary movement around critical ESP equipment. Its purpose is to minimize abrasion, impact, snagging, and cable exposure during installation, operation, and retrieval.
Silver Back protectors are designed for durable field use and may be reusable when inspected and confirmed to remain within acceptable condition. Because ESP equipment geometry can vary, APE-X can review the pump, seal, motor, or connection configuration to help determine the correct protector for the application.

TITANSEAL

9. What is TITANSEAL Advanced Sealing Technology?
TITANSEAL is APE-X Systems’ advanced sealing technology platform developed for rod-lift and production applications. The product family is designed to improve sealing reliability, wear performance, and service life in demanding operating environments.
Both are designed to provide dependable sealing around the polished rod, but the packing geometry and installation arrangement differ depending on the stuffing box design and operating requirements. APE-X can help determine which configuration best matches the customer’s existing equipment and field application.
TITANSEAL products are engineered to maintain a consistent sealing interface while managing the friction and mechanical movement associated with polished-rod operation. The goal is to reduce premature wear, leakage, heat-related degradation, and the frequency of packing replacement.
APE-X can review the stuffing-box style, polished-rod size, current packing configuration, operating conditions, and field history to recommend the appropriate TITANSEAL solution. Application-specific review is encouraged when existing equipment or well conditions vary from standard configurations.

13. Which APE-X product is right for my application?
APE-X solutions address different protection and sealing challenges. Gorilla Clamp is focused on tubing-mounted cable and control-line protection, Silver-Back protects critical MLE and ESP equipment interfaces, and TITANSEAL addresses rod-lift sealing applications. Our team can review the application and help identify the appropriate product or combination of products.
